Abstract
Brucellosis is a disease of animals caused by Brucella species and is transmissible to humans. This study was undertaken to determine the sero-prevalence of the disease in camels slaughtered in Semnan abattoir during a 4-month period in 2014. To investigate brucellosis in these animals, serological examinations including Rose Bengal Plat Test (RBPT), Wright and 2-ME were performed on 150 camel’s serum samples. Positive results were obtained in 14 (9.3%) camels by RBPT, then, Wright and 2-ME assays were performed to assess the titers of Anti-Brucella Antibodies, respectively. There was no relation observed between the seropositivity and age and sex of the tested animals. The study revealed that the prevalence of Brucellosis among camels slaughtered in Semnan and the results reflect the necessity of control programs and surveillance of the disease needed to be adopted.
