Raw milk contaminated with Brucella species is one of the most important routes of transmission of brucellosis to humans. The main objective of the present study is to determine the antimicrobial prevalence of Brucella melitensis in dairy products supplied in Garmsar city. In this study, 180 dairy samples including raw cow, sheep, goat, buffalo, traditional cheese and traditional yogurt supplied in Garmsar city were sampled and transferred to the laboratory under cold conditions. The samples were detected by MRT test, linear culture and Multiplex PCR and their antibiotic resistance was determined by Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method. The results showed that the MRT method determined the level of Brucella melitensis contamination to be 18.88%, linear culture to be 22.22% and PCR to be 78.7%. The frequency of virulence genes was bvfA 9 samples (64.25%), virfB 5 samples (35.74%), ure 3 samples (21.42%). Antibiotic resistance showed that the highest resistance was to tetracycline (92.5%) and ampicillin (82.5%) and the lowest resistance was to rifampin and imipenem (0). According to the results obtained, it can be concluded that the consumption of raw and traditional dairy products can be a source of brucellosis transmission to humans and the use of traditional and unpasteurized dairy products should be prohibited and sensitivities towards the establishment of strict rules for supply centers should be increased.
