Evaluation of calcium administration demand in Cattle with local and systemic diseases

Abstract

  Abstract   Calcium is one of abandoned minerals in animal body and plays a critical role in body processes. Since the serum calcium concentration in normal range value therefore its changes can lead to different abnormalities. Anorexia that was caused by diseases or diseases which made anorexia could decrease the serum calcium concentration. This study was conducted to evaluate the serum calcium concentration in referred cattle to veterinary hospital. Sera samples were collected from 80 referred patient cattle to veterinary hospital during one year. In cattle with different diseases, Serum calcium concentration decreased significantly in systemic diseases which were associated with anorexia. According to the results, calcium administration is necessary in systemic diseases but not in local diseases.
